How to Stay Safe Using Email and the Internet
The internet can pose several potential risks, and a lot of those risks can be found in your email. Having an email is a necessity in today's use of the internet. An email is needed to create nearly any type of account online including social media.
- Use strong passwords
- Use a spam filter
- Do not click on suspicious links
- Do not open emails from unknown senders

Online predators can be people you do not know; however, online predators can also be people you do know. The internet is a great way to connect with people you do know, but you should always be aware of other's intentions. Online predators can be found in the form of spam emails or ads, but they can also be found in chat rooms and your facebook messages.
Avoid talking to strangers online. Never share personal information, like where you live, with someone.
Avoid in-person meetings. If you "must" meet someone, do not go alone and always meet in a public place.
Remember, not everything you read online is true.
